Question by Anneliese: What are some really scary horror movies?
Hi, I love horror movies and have seen a vast number of them, but i have become sort of immune! I’d appreciate it if people suggested films they found actually scary, as opposed to gross or whatever. For a point of reference, the last movie I found to be properly scary was the Japanese “The Ring”.

The Strangers

its the only movie ive seen since i first watched texas chainsaw massacre when i was 8 years old that has actually scared me.
it creeped me out start to finish, and im not easily creeped.
edit: forgot to mention that its not gross, theres a small amount of gore but that isnt the scare factor. this movie scared me because it seems so realistic. not one of those movies where people die because they do really stupid stuff.
I guess it really boils down to personal opinion. These are some of my favorites:
Night of the Living Dead (original)
The Thing (remake)
Phantasm
Jacobs Ladder
Prince of Darkness
The Exorcist
Phantoms
Wolfen
I’m immune to scary movies too so I can’t really think of any.
Though when I watched High Tension I was on the edge of my seat.

I know how you feel. I’ve turned to gore movies in the hope that they can move me but none yet..
As you obviously don’t mind subtitles it’s a lot easier to suggest one or two that have at least warranted a glance over the shoulder or extra vigilance in locking up the house at night.
